This video [05:43], published by i24NEWS, an Israel-based international news channel, briefly explains the multi-layered history of Jerusalem’s “Tower of David,” a medieval fortress originally dating back to King Herod (73 B.C.E. — 4 B.C.E.). Though named after the infamous King David, the fortress holds no actual connection to him, but is named so because King David was the founder of Jerusalem and symbolic of it’s greatness. In the compound known as the “Kishle,” adjacent to the Tower of David, archaeologists have discovered the remains of six different historical eras, and visitors can explore part of King Herod’s ancient and once magnificent palace.
