Life for Israelis near the Gaza border is no picnic to say the least, as this clip (4:31) from The Watchman so vividly describes. Fear of rocket barrage has become a daily reality for residents of the Gaza envelope, like in the kibbutz community of Nahal Oz located half a mile from the Gaza border. Yael Paz-Lahiany, who has spent most of her life in Nahal Oz, describes the dramatic changes she has seen over the years, including in the relations between the two bordering communities. Wars and military operations like 2014’s Operation Protective Edge take a tremendous toll on both the residents and their communities as a whole. And yet, instead of focusing on the grief and pain, their focus is on finding ways to heal, rebuild, repair, and grow.
