This article in Out Magazine compares the euphoria of Tel Aviv’s Pride Parade with the intimacy and urgency of Jerusalem’s Pride Parade. The author, Brian Schaefer, references instances of violence at previous Jerusalem marches, which are an important act in the struggle for pluralism, diversity, and equality in the face of religion and politics. Schaefer was a finalist for the 2012 Livingston Award for Young Journalists for his exploration of the history and politics of Israel’s LGBT community.
