This introduction to the Book of Ruth is written as a prayer to God to help us apply the lessons of empathy, social justice, and communal responsibility found in this text to Israel’s current efforts to determine the policy regarding African refugees and asylum seekers. it was written by Reconstructionist Rabbinical Student, social activist and Jewish educator, Miriam Grossman, and Rabbi Lev Meirowitz Nelson, the Director of Education at T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights.
