The Jerusalem Light Rail:  A Microcosm of the City’s Diversity

Produced by the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this video (02:01) introduces the Jerusalem Light Rail, the first  in Israel, constructed in 2011. Built along the line that once divided the city, prior to the reunification of Jerusalem in the Six Day War, the train spans ancient and modern sites, including the Old City, the bustling Machane Yehuda Marketplace, the Arab neighborhood of Shuafat, City Hall, and the iconic bridge resembling Kind David’s harp at the entrance of the city.
