In this short video (01:57), Sayed Kashua, a Hebrew-language author, journalist and comedian, discusses his identity as a Palestinian Arab citizen of Israel, his rejection of Zionism, and his frustration with inequality in Israeli society. Kashua, who grew up in the Arab-Israeli city of Tira, moved to an Arab neighborhood of Jerusalem, and then a Jewish neighborhood of Jerusalem, before finally moving to the United States to teach at the University of Illinois and escape the tension and violence in Israel during the 2014 Israel-Gaza conflict.
